Background:

  • Atypical ductal hyperplasia (ADH) is a precursor to invasive breast carcinoma.
  • Understanding the genetic relationship between preneoplastic and neoplastic lesions is crucial for cancer risk assessment.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate the ploidy status of concurrent preneoplastic (ADH) and neoplastic (mammary carcinoma) lesions.
  • To determine if genetic concordance between these lesions can inform breast cancer risk stratification and prevention.

  • Quantitative DNA (QDNA) measurements were performed on thionein-stained samples.
  • Cell Image Analysis 100 system was utilized for QDNA analysis.
