Summary

Orbital myxomas, rare tumors, can cause eyelid ectropion and proptosis. Surgical removal and follow-up confirmed successful treatment of this orbital myxoma case.

Background:

  • Orbital myxomas are exceptionally rare neoplasms.
  • Diagnosis and management of orbital tumors present unique challenges.

Observation:

  • A 75-year-old male presented with lower eyelid ectropion and left non-axial proptosis.
  • Imaging (CT and MRI) identified a well-demarcated orbital lesion.

Findings:

  • Histopathological examination confirmed the diagnosis of orbital myxoma post-surgical excision.
  • The patient experienced no recurrence during a 1-year follow-up period.

Implications:

  • This case highlights the importance of considering rare orbital tumors in differential diagnoses.
  • Complete surgical excision appears to be an effective treatment for orbital myxoma.
