Abstract:
Care of the patient with renal trauma presents a special challenge for emergency and critical care nurses. By following the standards of trauma nursing care, nurses can detect this often masked injury. Careful ongoing assessment of these patients can help to prevent serious short- and long-term complications. A working knowledge of the clinical sequelae of renal trauma facilitates the achievement of this goal.
