[News in the sociology of mental disorders]

Psychiatry was enriched in a stimulating way by findings in sociology and social psychology in at least three areas: The first one pertains to lay techniques for group integration of mentally abnormal subjects, the second one involves elucidation of the importance of emotional rules for the recognition of mental illness and the third one involves extension of knowledge on the mechanism of action of the label "mental disease".
