Migraine variants--occurrence in pediatric neurology practice

Migraine variants are common in children, with basilar type migraine being the most frequent. Recognizing these variants aids in accurate diagnosis and management of pediatric migraine.

Conclusions:
- Basilar type migraine is the most frequent variant in children.
- Acute confusional migraine and Alice in Wonderland syndrome may represent distinct entities within migraine with complex aura.
- Benign paroxysmal torticollis warrants classification as a migraine variant, and ophthalmoplegic migraine cases with specific features should be considered migraine forms.
