Summary

A rare case of low-grade leiomyosarcoma in the small intestine was successfully treated with laparoscopic surgery. This minimally invasive approach offers a potential new option for this uncommon gastrointestinal tumor.

Background:

Small intestine leiomyosarcomas are rare gastrointestinal stromal tumors.
Diagnosis often relies on advanced imaging and surgical pathology.
Treatment typically involves surgical resection.

Observation:

A 45-year-old female presented with symptoms including nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and anemia.
CT imaging revealed an 8 × 5 × 5 cm ileal tumor.
Laparoscopic evaluation was performed.

Findings:

The patient underwent successful laparoscopic small bowel resection with clear margins.
Histopathological diagnosis confirmed low-grade leiomyosarcoma.
This represents the first reported case of laparoscopic resection for small intestine leiomyosarcoma.
