Summary

Researchers achieved dye lasing in airborne microdroplets using optical tweezers. The droplet whispering gallery modes (WGMs) showed tunable lasing wavelengths, offering new methods for probing atmospheric particles.

  • A Q-switched green laser served as the pump source for stimulated emission.

    • Nonlinear intensity dependence of droplet WGMs on pump laser fluence confirmed dye lasing.

    • Whispering gallery mode lasing was successfully achieved in airborne microdroplets.
