Summary

A 14-year-old boy experienced tendon ruptures after a distal radius fracture. Surgical repair with tendon grafts resulted in some persistent metacarpophalangeal flexion limitation.

Background:

  • A 14-year-old male presented with a closed rupture of the extensor digitorum communis, extensor pollicis longus, and extensor indicis proprius tendons.
  • The tendon rupture occurred secondary to a volarly displaced Salter-Harris Type II fracture of the distal radius.
  • The patient underwent surgical intervention utilizing tendon grafts for reconstruction.

Findings:

  • Successful reconstruction of the extensor tendons was achieved through grafting.
