1Monash University Department of Medicine.
Abstract:
Venous thromboembolism constitutes a major cause of illness and death in this community. Awareness of the clinical circumstances predisposing to thrombosis, together with their appropriate prophylaxis and management, is important for general medical practice. While conventional heparin and warfarin remain important in these situations, new modes of use of these drugs and a variety of newer agents are gaining recognition.
