Summary

This case report details the first documented instance of an anterior-inferior (obturator) hip dislocation in a child, successfully treated with closed reduction. The child experienced no long-term complications after a one-year follow-up.

Background:

Traumatic hip dislocation is a rare pediatric injury.
Posterior dislocations are most common, but anterior variants exist.
Anterior-inferior (obturator) dislocation is exceptionally rare in children.

Observation:

A young boy sustained a traumatic anterior-inferior hip dislocation.
The femoral head was displaced into the obturator foramen.
This represents the first reported case in English literature.

Findings:

The obturator hip dislocation was managed conservatively with closed reduction.
The patient was monitored for one year post-reduction.
No sequelae or complications were observed during the follow-up period.

Implications:

This case highlights the possibility of obturator hip dislocations in pediatric trauma.
Conservative management with closed reduction can be effective.
Clinicians should consider this rare injury in the differential diagnosis of pediatric hip dislocations.
