    Background:

    • Hereditary chronic nephritis (HCN) is a group of inherited kidney diseases.
    • Alport's syndrome is a common form of hereditary nephritis.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To document the occurrence of hereditary chronic nephritis (HCN) in various Indian ethnic groups.
    • To describe the clinical and laboratory findings of HCN patients in India.
    • To compare these findings with those reported globally.

    Main Methods:

    • Retrospective analysis of 46 patients from 23 Indian families diagnosed with hereditary chronic nephritis (HCN).
    • Inclusion of patients with and without Alport's syndrome.
