    Benign prostatic hypertrophy (BPH) samples show unique steroid hormone profiles compared to normal prostates. Specific estrogens and progestogens found exclusively in BPH suggest their role in the condition's development.

    Background:

    • Benign prostatic hypertrophy (BPH) is a common condition in aging men.
    • Steroid hormones are known to influence prostate growth and function.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate the differences in free estrogen and progestogen levels between normal and benign hypertrophied prostates.
    • To identify specific steroid hormones potentially involved in BPH development.

    • Analysis of free steroid hormone concentrations in human prostate tissue samples.
