Abstract:
The authors report a retrospective study of 16 cases over the period 1980-1992.One debridement was needed in 2 thirds of the cases and wound closure was achieved in all cases without any plastic flap. The fixation of the fracture was performed by a reamed nail in one third of the cases and by an external fixator in the other 2 thirds.Primary consolidation was obtained in 71% of the cases treated by a reamed nail and in 33% of the cases treated with an external fixator. The mean time to consolidation was 13.5 months.
