    Summary

    Polymorphic light eruption (PMLE) is a common sun-induced rash. This study highlights a rare pinpoint papular variant of PMLE affecting the face in African-American males.

    Background:

    • Polymorphic light eruption (PMLE) is the most frequent immunologically mediated photodermatosis.
    • It typically affects individuals within their first three decades of life, with a higher incidence in females.
    • Lesions manifest as non-scarring, erythematous, and mildly itchy papules, vesicles, papulovesicles, plaques, or nodules.

    Observation:

    • A specific variant, the pinpoint papular type of PMLE, has been documented in individuals with skin phototypes IV-VI.
    • This variant is characterized by the eruption of 1-2 mm pinpoint papules on sun-exposed skin following ultraviolet radiation exposure.
    • While typically affecting the arms, forearms, hands, and neck, facial involvement is uncommon.

    Findings:

    • This report details two cases of African-American males presenting with the pinpoint papular variant of PMLE.
