Intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIg) significantly improves disability in Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyradiculoneuropathy (CIDP) compared to placebo for at least six weeks. IVIg shows similar short-term efficacy to plasma exchange and corticosteroids, with manageable side effects.

- IVIg demonstrated similar short-term efficacy to plasma exchange, oral prednisolone, and intravenous methylprednisolone, with comparable side effect profiles. Mild transient adverse events occurred in 49% of IVIg recipients, serious events in 6%.
Conclusions:
- IVIg is effective in improving CIDP disability for at least two to six weeks compared to placebo.
- IVIg shows comparable short-term efficacy to plasma exchange and corticosteroids.
- Further research is needed to compare long-term benefits and side effects of IVIg versus other CIDP treatments.
