Summary

A new "Inside-Out" technique for medial epicanthoplasty effectively treats the epicanthal fold, common in Asian populations. This simple surgical method yields good aesthetic results with minimal scarring, improving patient satisfaction.

Background:

The epicanthal fold is a common feature, particularly in Asian individuals.
Existing surgical techniques for epicanthoplasty often face challenges with scarring and achieving natural-looking results.

Purpose of the Study:

To introduce and evaluate a novel surgical technique for medial epicanthoplasty.
To assess the efficacy and aesthetic outcomes of the "Inside-Out" technique for treating epicanthal folds.

Main Methods:

A prospective study involving 1132 patients undergoing medial epicanthoplasty between January 2005 and December 2011.
Utilized the "Inside-Out" technique, involving outward mobilization of the skin flap within the medial epicanthal fold.
Measured interepicanthal distance preoperatively and at 2 months postoperatively.
