The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 established Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs) to manage healthcare quality and costs.
The nephrology community faces challenges integrating care for End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) patients due to complex comorbidities.

Purpose of the Study:

To outline the necessity for the nephrology community to develop integrated renal care models.
To highlight how ACOs can facilitate high-quality, cost-effective patient care.

Review of existing ACO-like programs within nephrology, including the ESRD Management Demonstration Project and ESRD Prospective Payment System with Quality Incentive Program.
