[Diagnosis and treatment of patients with benign formations of the adrenal cortex]
Abstract:
In 2003 - 2013 yrs 48 patients were treated in the clinic for benign tumors of the adrenal cortex substance (ACS). Adrenal adenoma was diagnosed in 34 (70.8%) patients, nodular hyperplasia--in 14 (29.2%). In assumption about presence of primary hyperaldosteronism the blood from the adrenal veins ostium were taken selectively. Operative interventions were performed in 43 (89.6%) patients: laparoscopic adrenalectomy--in 18 (41.9%), adrenalectomy using open access--in 21 (48.8%), for nodular hyperplasia of ACS roentgenoendovascular adrenal destruction was performed in 4 (9.3%). Differentiated approach to choice of the treatment method was applied in the patients.

Adrenal Gland Disorders
Adrenal insufficiency, characterized by insufficient cortisol and aldosterone production, leads to conditions like Addison's disease. This disorder, affecting the adrenal cortex, exhibits symptoms such as skin bronzing, dehydration, low blood pressure, fatigue, and weight loss. Congenital adrenal hyperplasia, a genetic ailment causing...
Cushing Syndrome I: Introduction
Anatomy of the Adrenal Glands
These glands possess a distinctive yellow tinge due to the stored cholesterol and fatty acids required for hormone synthesis. They are encased in a fibrous capsule and cushioned by fat.
The adrenal gland comprises two distinct...
Cushing Syndrome II: Pathophysiology
Hormones of the Adrenal Glands
The adrenal cortex, a powerhouse of hormone synthesis, generates over two dozen corticosteroid hormones. The zona glomerulosa produces mineralocorticoids, exemplified by aldosterone, influencing the electrolyte composition of body fluids. The synthesis of glucocorticoids such as cortisol and...
