Individuals with left-hemisphere acquired brain injuries experience significant functional and communication deficits compared to those with right-hemisphere injuries. Motor function is a key predictor of rehabilitation outcomes in brain injury survivors.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To identify functional differences in daily living activities between individuals with unilateral acquired brain injury (ABI) based on lesion location.
  • To compare functional independence, capacity, and performance between right- and left-sided ABI.

Main Methods:

  • A descriptive, cross-sectional study involving 58 participants with traumatic brain injury (TBI) or stroke.
  • Participants were categorized by right- or left-sided injury and assessed using the Functional Independence Measure/Functional Assessment Measure (FIM/FAM) and the International Classification of Functioning (ICF).
