    Summary

    Olfactory neuroblastoma, a rare nasal cavity tumor, was diagnosed in a 13-year-old girl presenting with a nasal polyp. Postoperative radiotherapy was administered due to the absence of intracranial extension.

    Area of Science:

    • Pathology

    Background:

    • Malignant neoplasms of the nasal cavity are uncommon.
    • Olfactory neuroblastoma (esthesioneuroblastoma) constitutes a rare subset, representing approximately 6% of sinonasal malignancies.
    • Fewer than 1,000 cases have been documented globally since its initial description over 75 years ago.

    Observation:

    • A 13-year-old female patient presented with a symptomatic bleeding nasal polyp.
    • Initial clinical assessment did not reveal overt signs suggestive of malignancy.
    • Surgical intervention was performed, followed by histopathological examination.

    Findings:

    • Histopathology confirmed the diagnosis of olfactory neuroblastoma.
    • The tumor exhibited no evidence of intracranial extension.
