Summary

Transareola single-site endoscopic thyroidectomy is a safe and feasible approach for bilateral thyroid disease, offering high cosmetic satisfaction. This minimally invasive technique avoids conversion to open surgery.

Background:

Transareola single-site endoscopic thyroidectomy is an established surgical approach.
This study evaluated its application for bilateral thyroid disease.

Purpose of the Study:

To investigate the feasibility and safety of transareola single-site endoscopic thyroidectomy for bilateral thyroid disease.
To assess surgical outcomes and patient satisfaction.

Main Methods:

Twelve patients with bilateral thyroid disease underwent transareola single-site endoscopic thyroidectomy.
Surgical outcomes including operation time, bleeding, pain, and cosmetic satisfaction were analyzed.

All procedures were successful without conversion to open or multi-port surgery.

Mean operation time was 165 minutes, with minimal bleeding (27.3 mL).

Postoperative pain scores were low (3.3/10), and cosmetic satisfaction was high (9.55/10).

Conclusions:

Transareola single-site endoscopic bilateral thyroidectomy is a feasible and safe procedure.
It offers excellent cosmetic outcomes for patients with bilateral thyroid conditions.
