Abstract:
Report dealing with the descriptive epidemiology of psychotherapies. Enumeration of the stages which have to be taken into account: potential demand (or needs of the population), expressed demand, indication, realisation, outcome. Presentation of certain facts known today on the distribution of the population at these different stages according to sex, age and socio-cultural status. Reflections and comments on methodological points (particularly, necessity to include the psychotherapies of private psychiatrists) and on the utility of the descriptive epidemiology of these treatments, from a theoretical as well as from a practical point of view.
