CAT Scan Evaluation of Traumatic Hip Dislocations With Associated Posterior Acetabular Fractures
Abstract:
Computerized axial tomography (CAT scanning) was utilized in the evaluation and treatment of 11 patients with traumatic fracture dislocations of the hip. The results influenced the treatment of all patients studied, and demonstrated significant radiographic findings that were not apparent on standard plain radiographs and tomography. CAT scanning in fracture dislocations of the hip is an essential diagnostic tool in establishing adequate treatment regimens and prognosis for these severe injuries.
