Nursing Evaluation01:15

Nursing Evaluation

4.1K
The evaluation stage signals the end of the nursing process. The nurse gathers evaluative data to assess whether or not the patient has attained the expected results. Whereas the nurse collects data in the nursing assessment to identify the patient's health concerns, the evaluation stage data determines if the indicated health issues are resolved. Evaluative data collection includes two sections: the data acquired to evaluate patient outcomes and the time criteria for data collection.

The Professional Nurse01:22

The Professional Nurse

6.5K
Professional nurses are not limited to bedside care and are taking roles of greater responsibility. A nurse should have a knowledge-based practice, including personal, theoretical, procedural, cultural, and reflexive knowledge. Additionally, nurses must be competent in cognitive, technical, interpersonal, and ethical/legal skills. Some of the best attributes of successful nurses include the following:
Communication skills: These are critical characteristics, especially speaking and listening.

Nursing Clinical Information System01:27

Nursing Clinical Information System

1.3K
Nursing Clinical Information System (NCIS)
A Nursing Clinical Information System (NCIS) is a specialized type of healthcare information system tailored to meet the unique needs of nursing practice. It incorporates the principles of nursing informatics to streamline information management and improve the quality of care delivery.
Critical attributes of NCIS include:

Nursing Implementation01:15

Nursing Implementation

6.3K
Implementation is the execution of the nursing care plan developed during the planning phase.
The five steps to implementing effective nursing care include reassessing the patient, reviewing and revising the existing nursing care plan, organizing the resources and care delivery, anticipating and preventing complications, and implementing nursing interventions.

Nursing Assessment01:29

Nursing Assessment

8.3K
The two sources for collecting information are primary and secondary. After gathering information, interpretation and validation help to complete the data. The purpose of assessment is to establish data with the initial information, to interpret data about the patient's perceived needs and health problems, and to respond to these problems identified.
The nurse collects all aspects of the patient's health in the initial assessment, establishing priorities for ongoing focused assessments...

Self-Report Tests of Personality01:22

Self-Report Tests of Personality

1.3K
Self-report inventories are objective personality assessments that use multiple-choice items or numbered scales, typically ranging from 1 (strongly disagree) to 5 (strongly agree). They are often called Likert scales after Rensis Likert. These inventories are widely used due to their ease of administration and cost-effectiveness. One of the most prominent examples is the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI), initially developed in the 1940s to assess abnormal personality traits.

Area of Science:

  • Nursing Education
  • Clinical Instruction
  • Psychometrics

Background:

  • Effective clinical nurse instructors are crucial for developing competent future nurses.
  • Existing knowledge on clinical teaching effectiveness lacks context-specific evaluation tools for Iranian nursing.
  • A need exists for a validated instrument to assess Iranian clinical nurse instructors.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To develop and psychometrically test an instrument for evaluating Iranian effective clinical nurse instructors.
  • To create a reliable and valid tool for assessing essential instructor characteristics.

Main Methods:

  • Literature review and expert consultation identified 83 initial statements.
  • Content validity, face validity, and internal consistency were assessed.
  • Exploratory factor analysis on 168 pilot test responses refined the instrument.

Main Results:

  • The initial 83 items were reduced to 52 items through merging and omission.
  • The final instrument comprises four subscales: student-centric behaviors, clinical performance, planning ability, and personality traits.
  • High internal consistency was demonstrated with an overall Cronbach's alpha of 0.96.

Conclusions:

  • The developed Iranian Effective Clinical Nurse Instructor evaluation tool exhibits acceptable psychometric properties.
  • This instrument is suitable for evaluating the effectiveness of clinical nursing instructors in Iran.
  • The tool provides a reliable measure for enhancing clinical nursing education quality.
