Summary

Benign soft tissue tumors are a rare cause of coracoid impingement syndrome. Arthroscopic resection of these tumors led to complete symptom resolution and no recurrence in two patients.

Background:

  • Coracoid impingement syndrome, caused by subscapularis tendon entrapment, is an uncommon source of shoulder pain.
  • While synovial cysts are known causes, solid tumors are rarely implicated in coracoid impingement.

Observation:

  • Two cases of patients presenting with symptoms of coracoid impingement syndrome due to benign soft tissue solid tumors were analyzed.
  • The tumors were located in the subscapularis space, causing impingement between the humerus and coracoid.

Findings:

  • Both patients underwent successful arthroscopic resection of the benign soft tissue tumors.
  • Histopathological examination confirmed the benign nature of the resected lesions.

Implications:

  • Arthroscopic removal of benign soft tissue tumors causing coracoid impingement syndrome yields excellent outcomes.
  • This approach offers a minimally invasive option for managing this rare cause of shoulder pain, with sustained symptom relief.
