Robotic transanal total mesorectal excision: a pilot study.

Robotic transanal total mesorectal excision (TME) is a new surgical approach for rectal cancer. Initial results show it is feasible and safe for distal rectal cancer patients.

- Mesorectal resection quality was graded as I or II.
- No major morbidity or mortality was observed in the short term.
Implications:
- Robotic transanal TME is a feasible technique for en bloc rectal cancer resection.
- Further research is needed to evaluate the benefits of this innovative surgical approach.
