Trigger point-related sympathetic nerve activity in chronic sciatic leg pain: a case study

Active trigger points in the gluteus minimus muscle may mimic sciatica. Infrared thermography revealed that needling these active trigger points caused localized, short-term vasodilation, suggesting an autonomic response in referred pain areas.
