Prospective associations between persistent organic pollutants and metabolic syndrome: a nested case-control study

Chronic exposure to persistent organic pollutants (POPs), including polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) and organochlorine pesticides (OCPs), increases metabolic syndrome (MetS) risk, even at low doses. The dose-response relationship is non-linear, suggesting complex biological interactions.
