[An experimental oral premalignant lesion transplanted to nude mice]
Abstract:
The establishment of a model to study the development of oral precancerous lesion is described. 13 samples of DMBA induced hamster cheek pouch precancerous lesions were transplanted to subcutaneous sites in the flank region of nude mice. The transplants were recovered after 14 days and 28 days with a successful recovery rate of 61.9%. The histologic epithelial features of the transplants were compared with those of the original precancerous lesions. Four transplants from 5 mild dysplasia still keep their original histologic epithelial features, and one returns to normal. There are two transplants from 4 simple hyperplasia develop to moderate dysplasia, and one moderate dysplasia changed into mild dysplasia. The experimental result provides good evidence that it is possible to use nude mice to observe the development of various precancerous lesion, especially dysplasia.
