Idiopathic optic neuritis (ION) recurrence is linked to underlying conditions like neuromyelitis optica (NMO) and multiple sclerosis (MS), unilateral presentation, and lower initial steroid doses. Sufficient initial glucocorticoid treatment is recommended to lower recurrence risk.
