Abstract:
While B lymphocytes were originally named after their developmental site in the bursa of, Fabricius of chickens, it is currently accepted that bone marrow is the primary site of early events in the differentiation of postnatal B lymphocytes in humans and other mammals(1). B cells subsequently become widely dispersed in the circulation and peripheral lymphoid tissues. This review summarizes defects in the early and late stages of differentiation of B lymphocytes which contribute to immunologic dysfunction in the naturally occurring immunodeficiency diseases.
