Cardiorespiratory function before and after aerobic exercise training in patients with interstitial lung disease

Aerobic exercise training significantly improved cardiorespiratory function and endurance in patients with interstitial lung disease. Improvements were linked to enhanced muscle oxygen extraction, not increased oxygen delivery.

- Enhanced peripheral oxygen extraction, not delivery, mediates these benefits.
- Supervised exercise is safe and effective for improving exercise tolerance in ILD.
