    Area of Science:

    • Otolaryngology
    • Ophthalmology
    • Surgical Innovation

    Background:

    • Endoscopic sinus surgery (ESS) is increasingly utilized for nasal and sinus diseases.
    • ESS offers significant improvements in treating sinonasal conditions.
    • Despite advancements, surgical complication rates remain a concern.

    Observation:

    • Orbital complications represent the most frequent adverse event associated with ESS.
    • Sinus infections can extend into the orbital cavity.
    • This paper details a case of orbital complication.

    Findings:

    • The incidence of orbital complications has not decreased with the adoption of ESS.
    • Orbital issues are the leading complication of ESS.
    • Literature review on orbital complications related to sinusitis and ESS.

    Implications:

    • Highlighting the critical need for vigilance regarding orbital complications during and after ESS.
    • Emphasizing the importance of recognizing and managing orbital sequelae.
    • Informing surgical practice to mitigate risks associated with ESS.
