Background:

Stress urinary incontinence (SUI) is a common condition affecting women.
Suburethral slings are a standard surgical treatment for SUI.
The Monarc sling is an established treatment, and a newer, miniature version, the Miniarc sling, has been introduced.

Purpose of the Study:

To compare the postoperative recovery, effectiveness, and complication rates of the Monarc and Miniarc suburethral slings.
To evaluate the clinical outcomes of the novel Miniarc sling against the traditional Monarc sling.

Main Methods:

A prospective randomized study involving 50 female patients diagnosed with stress incontinence.
Patients were randomized to receive either the Monarc suburethral sling or the Miniarc suburethral sling.

Outcomes including operation time, postoperative recovery, effectiveness, and complications were assessed.

Main Results:

The Miniarc sling procedure was significantly shorter in duration (18.8 minutes) compared to the Monarc sling (22.4 minutes).
Success rates for both the Monarc and Miniarc slings were comparable at both 6 weeks and 6 months post-surgery.
No significant differences were observed in postoperative recovery or complication rates between the two sling types.

Conclusions:

The Miniarc suburethral sling is a viable alternative to the Monarc sling for treating stress urinary incontinence.
The primary advantage of the Miniarc sling is its reduced operative time, without compromising effectiveness or patient recovery.
Further research may explore long-term outcomes and patient-reported satisfaction for both procedures.
