Spontaneous resolution of total retinal detachment in coats disease

Purpose:
To present a case of a child with total retinal detachment secondary to Coats disease who failed different treatment modalities and then had spontaneous resolution of the retinal detachment years later.
Methods:
Case report.
Results:
After progressing to total retinal detachment despite multimodality therapy with intravitreal bevacizumab and laser photocoagulation for advanced Coats disease, the patient was watched routinely for almost 2 years. On routine follow-up, he was noted to have complete resolution of the total retinal detachment with a completely flat retina.
Conclusion:
Resolution of advanced Coats disease with total retinal detachment rarely occurs.
