Abstract:
We report infectious mononucleosis in a 15-year-old girl with severe thrombocytopenia (2 x 10(9)/l). Intravenous hydrocortisone in high doses for 4 days had no effect. When intravenous immunoglobulin and acyclovir were added an immediate response was noted with normalization of the thrombocyte count within 3 days.
