Area of Science:

  • Reconstructive surgery
  • Facial trauma
  • Plastic surgery

Background:

  • Avulsion and degloving injuries of facial structures are infrequently reported.
  • Hemi-facial degloving, involving extensive facial tissue detachment, is exceptionally rare in medical literature.

Observation:

  • A case of extensive post-assault degloving injury involving the nose, forehead, frontal sinus, eyelids, and cheek is presented.
  • The injury encompassed a large area of the face, requiring complex reconstructive strategies.

Findings:

  • Surgical management involved meticulous planning and staging of procedures.
  • The use of local flaps and precise tissue alignment were crucial for reconstruction.

Implications:

  • This case highlights the successful management of a rare and severe facial degloving injury.
  • Effective surgical planning and execution can lead to favorable aesthetic and functional outcomes in complex facial trauma.
