Interleukin-23 receptor genetic polymorphisms and ulcerative colitis susceptibility: A meta-analysis

This meta-analysis found that certain interleukin-23 receptor (IL-23R) gene polymorphisms are associated with ulcerative colitis (UC) risk. Specifically, rs11209026 and rs7517847 may protect Caucasians, while rs1088967 may protect Asians.

- IL-23R polymorphisms rs11209026 and rs7517847 appear protective against UC in Caucasians.
- IL-23R polymorphism rs11209032 may increase UC risk in Caucasians.
- IL-23R polymorphism rs1088967 may be protective against UC in Asians. Further research is needed to clarify these roles.
