Abstract:
Most ingested batteries in children pass through the gastrointestinal canal without problems. The risk for complications is at its highest if the battery gets stuck in the esophagus or if the child is less than 6 years of age or the size of the battery exceeds 15 mm. Thorough database searches only identified a limited number of articles, all were considered to provide low-grade evidence.
