Lower extremity malalignment can accelerate knee osteoarthritis. Osteotomy surgery can correct alignment, slow arthritis progression, and reduce pain in young, active patients unsuitable for knee replacement.

The knee joint is the most complicated joint in the body. It consists of three articulations– two tibiofemoral and one patellofemoral.
