Peripapillary serous detachment in multiple evanescent white dot syndrome

Transient peripapillary serous detachments are a newly identified finding in multiple evanescent white dot syndrome (MEWDS). These detachments resolve spontaneously with other MEWDS symptoms.

Background:
- Multiple evanescent white dot syndrome (MEWDS) is an idiopathic inflammatory condition affecting the outer retina.

- All four patients diagnosed with MEWDS exhibited transient peripapillary serous detachments.
- The serous detachments resolved concurrently with the resolution of other MEWDS clinical and fundus findings.
- The condition appears to be self-limited.

- Peripapillary serous detachments represent a novel clinical manifestation of MEWDS.
- Recognition of this finding aids in the diagnosis and understanding of MEWDS.
- The self-limited nature of these detachments suggests a favorable prognosis for MEWDS patients.
