Multiple eccrine poromas, a rare skin tumor, developed in a patient with chronic radiation dermatitis. This case highlights a previously unreported link between X-ray damage and eccrine poroma development.

Background:

  • Eccrine poromas are benign adnexal neoplasms originating from the acrosyringium.
  • Chronic radiation dermatitis is a known risk factor for secondary malignancies.
  • The association between radiation-induced skin changes and eccrine poroma formation is not well-established.

Observation:

  • A 70-year-old male presented with multiple (seven) eccrine poromas.
  • These lesions were located on the right lower extremity within an area of chronic radiation dermatitis.
  • The development of these tumors occurred over a 37-year period.

Findings:

  • This case represents the first reported instance of multiple eccrine poromas unequivocally linked to chronic X-ray damage.
  • The findings suggest a potential oncogenic effect of long-term radiation exposure on eccrine glands.
