Coexistent squamous cell carcinoma of the cervix and genital tuberculosis
Background:
Tuberculosis and genital malignancies are two common but separate pathologies that rarely coexist. Despite various theories depicting a cause-effect relationship between the two, their association is rarely reported in genital malignancies.
Case Report:
We report a case of keratinising squamous cell carcinoma of the cervix associated with pelvic granulomatous lymphadenitis, with post-operative flare up of disease responding to anti-tuberculosis treatment. Since coexistence of genital tuberculosis and genital malignancy has been reported rarely, the literature for these cases is reviewed.
