Abstract:
Stochastic and field models of hemopoietic stem cell renewal are tested for quantitative predictions regarding limited survival of mouse stem cells during serial transplant from donors into lethally irradiated recipients. Besides circumventing the limitations of stochastic theories, the field model is found to be congruent with experimental data.
