Summary

This study suggests that corticosteroids may be the preferred treatment for autoimmune hemolytic anemia associated with thymoma. This approach led to rapid remission of hemolysis in a patient with thymoma.

  • Corticosteroid therapy was effective in managing AIHA in this thymoma case.
  • Chemotherapy and surgical resection were performed after initial corticosteroid treatment.
  • Sustained remission of AIHA was achieved without ongoing immunosuppression.

Implications:

  • Corticosteroids may offer a primary therapeutic option for AIHA in thymoma.
  • This case highlights the potential benefits of early corticosteroid intervention.
  • Further research is warranted to confirm the optimal management strategy for thymoma-associated AIHA.
