[Chemical constituents from leaf of Rhododendron przewalskii]
Objective:
To study the chemical constituents from the leaf of Rhododendron przewalskii.
Methods:
Isolate and purify compounds by chromatographic methods, and identify structures by spectroscopic methods.
Results:
Six compounds were isolated and identified as hyperin (1), avicularin (2), gossypetin-3-O-β-D-galactoside (3), quercetin (4), betuloside (5) and β-sitosterol (6).
Conclusion:
Compounds 1-4 and 6 are isolated from Rhododendron przewalskii for the frist time.

Aromatic ring substitutions: Substituting the aromatic ring with –OH groups at positions 3 and 4 yields catecholamines (e.g., epinephrine), which have a high affinity for adrenoceptors. Hydrogen bonding between –OH groups and receptors enhances adrenergic activity.
