Background:

Systemizing Quotient-Revised (SQ-R) assesses interest in systems.
Autism spectrum condition (ASC) is associated with systemizing traits.
Understanding the dimensionality of the SQ-R is crucial for accurate assessment.

Purpose of the Study:

To evaluate the dimensionality of the SQ-R using Rasch modeling and Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA).
To develop and validate an abbreviated version of the SQ-R.
To examine group differences in systemizing scores.

Main Methods:

Rasch modeling (Rating Scale model) and CFA were applied to data from individuals with ASC, family members, and controls.
Differential item functioning (DIF) by sex was assessed.
An abbreviated 44-item SQ-R was developed and validated.

Main Results:

The SQ-R demonstrated good fit to a unidimensional model.
High reliability was found for items (.99) and persons (.92).
Significant differences in systemizing scores were observed between individuals with and without ASC (d = 0.71) and between sexes (d = 0.53).

Conclusions:

The SQ-R is a valid unidimensional measure of systemizing interest.
An abbreviated version is suitable for use, accounting for sex-based item differences.
The SQ-R effectively differentiates systemizing levels across groups and sexes.
