Excessive daytime sleepiness is associated with changes in salivary inflammatory genes transcripts

Saliva tests can identify excessive daytime sleepiness (EDS) by measuring inflammatory gene levels. This noninvasive method shows elevated prostaglandin-endoperoxide synthase 2 (PTGS2) in patients with EDS, even without sleep apnea.
