To investigate whether young children adjust their judgments based on advisor characteristics.
To determine if children's advice-taking patterns mirror those observed in adults.

Main Methods:

Children aged 3 to 6 years participated in a game involving initial judgments, receiving advice, and making final judgments.
Participants' adjustments were analyzed based on the perceived expertise of the advisor.

Main Results:

Children systematically revised their judgments after receiving advice.
Judgment adjustments were selective, increasing when advised by a knowledgeable informant.

Conclusions:

Young children demonstrate selective advice-taking, adjusting their judgments based on advisor expertise.
This selective advice-taking behavior in children suggests its developmental roots in early childhood.
