Summary

Original antigenic sin (OAS) may occur with human bocaviruses (HBoVs). This study in rabbits suggests prior exposure to one HBoV type can alter immune responses to subsequent infections with related HBoV types, complicating diagnosis.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate the potential for OAS in human bocavirus (HBoV) infections.
  • To characterize HBoV-specific immune responses in a controlled experimental setting.

  • Rabbits were inoculated twice with HBoV1-4 virus-like particles (VLPs) or control antigens.
